It's a destination venue...
The first time you drive up to Chalk Barn, you feel you've taken a wrong turn; suddenly, you're surrounded by fields and woodland, climbing a stone track road with views on your right-hand side overlooking the Pewsey Vale. After a while, you turn left and continue on a long, straight road, and in the distance, Chalk Barn appears.
It's a modern structure in an old landscape with dramatic views on every side. To the rear is the vast, open landscape of Salisbury Plain, and to the front, you can see the imposing hills of the Wiltshire Downs and the Pewsey white horse.
Because of its location, in many ways, it's an outside venue, but you can easily take the outdoors inside with its huge glass panel walls that provide both light and breathtaking views.
The farmland that hosts Chalk supplies most of its meat and produce, which reveals, for me, the best part about this place: The food: It's the best. Honestly, no one gets close. Whether it's a three-course sit-down wedding breakfast, a BBQ with sharing plates, or afternoon tea, it's always exceptional.
I've had the privilege of photographing many weddings at Chalk over the years, and it always feels special every time I'm here.
