Chalk Barn Wedding Photographer – Natural, Relaxed Wedding Photography in Wiltshire
Beautiful, natural wedding photography at Chalk Barn
If you're planning your wedding at Chalk Barn in Wiltshire and looking for a photographer who knows the venue, I'd love to hear from you.
I'm Dan, a Bristol-based wedding photographer with over 15 years of experience photographing weddings across Wiltshire and the South West. I've had the pleasure of photographing many weddings at Chalk Barn over the years, and it's a venue I always enjoy returning to.
My approach to wedding photography is relaxed, natural and unobtrusive. I want you to enjoy your wedding without feeling like you're constantly being photographed. I'll quietly capture the genuine moments, the laughter, the emotions and all those little things that make your day your own.
And with a venue as beautiful as Chalk Barn, there's certainly no shortage of wonderful photographic opportunities.
Why I love photographing weddings at Chalk Barn
Chalk Barn is somewhere quite special.
Hidden away in the Wiltshire countryside near Pewsey, it's surrounded by miles of open farmland, rolling hills and some of the most spectacular views in the county.
The first time you drive up to Chalk Barn, you might wonder whether you've taken a wrong turn. The road winds through the countryside before the barn eventually appears on the hillside.
It's a striking modern building set within an ancient landscape, and that contrast is part of what makes it so interesting to photograph.
One of my favourite things about Chalk Barn is the light. The huge glass walls flood the building with natural daylight and provide uninterrupted views of the countryside. Even when you're indoors, you never really lose that feeling of being surrounded by the Wiltshire landscape.
For someone like me, who loves working with natural light, it's a fantastic place to photograph a wedding.
And I should mention the food. Having photographed numerous weddings here, I can safely say it's one of my favourite wedding venues for food. It's consistently excellent!
Chalk Barn wedding photography – capturing the day naturally
Every wedding at Chalk Barn is different, and that's exactly how I approach photographing them.
I'm not interested in turning your wedding into a lengthy photoshoot. Instead, I concentrate on documenting what's actually happening around me.
The excitement during the morning preparations, the nerves before the ceremony, the reactions of your family and friends, the laughter during speeches and the atmosphere as the evening celebrations get underway.
These are the moments that tell the real story of your wedding.
Of course, we'll make time for some lovely photographs of the two of you together, but there's no need for awkward posing or spending an hour away from your guests.
My aim is always to make the photography feel like a natural part of your day rather than something that interrupts it.
The best places for wedding photographs at Chalk Barn
Having photographed weddings at Chalk Barn over the years, I've become familiar with the different spaces and how the light changes throughout the day.
The panoramic countryside views
The landscape surrounding Chalk Barn is extraordinary. With Salisbury Plain stretching away behind the venue and views towards the Pewsey Vale and Wiltshire Downs, there are wonderful opportunities for photographs that really capture the setting.
The beautiful natural light inside the barn
The floor-to-ceiling glass creates a bright, open space that's ideal for natural wedding photography. It also means that even if the weather isn't particularly kind, there are plenty of opportunities for lovely photographs indoors.
The outdoor ceremony and reception spaces
When the weather allows, Chalk Barn's outdoor spaces are perfect for relaxed ceremonies, confetti photographs and those lovely informal moments when guests are enjoying themselves.
The evening light
One of the things I particularly enjoy about Chalk Barn is the changing light across the landscape. On the right evening, the low sun and enormous skies can create a beautiful backdrop for a few relaxed photographs of the two of you.
And because the setting is so spectacular, we don't need to spend long getting them.
A Wiltshire wedding photographer who knows Chalk Barn
I grew up in Wiltshire and now live in Bristol, so photographing weddings in this part of the country always feels familiar.
I've photographed weddings at many wonderful Wiltshire venues, but Chalk Barn is one I particularly enjoy.
Knowing a venue well is useful, not because I want to recreate the same photographs at every wedding, but because it allows me to anticipate the light, understand the surroundings and work without disrupting the natural flow of the day.
Every couple is different, and I want your photographs to reflect your personalities and the atmosphere of your celebration.
Whether you're planning a large wedding with all your family and friends or something smaller and more intimate, my approach remains the same: relaxed, thoughtful photography that captures the day as it really happened.
